Traffic restrictions on B844 Kilninver Bridge
The B844 Kilninver Bridge is under traffic management arrangements to ensure the safety of the travelling public and to provide short term protection to the bridge structure while it undergoes emergency repairs.
It is currently under an 18 tonne weight restriction.
There will be overnight closures between 9pm and 6am from Wednesday 2nd July to Monday 7th July. Emergency access will be maintained during the night closures.

EV Charging Network - Faults - 22.06.25
Electric Vehicle Charger Faults:
We have some faults across our network of 37 EV chargers at the moment. We are working with our maintenance contractors to have these repaired as soon as possible.
The faults and some details are listed below. You can see the full range of publicly available chargers in ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ and Bute (not just those operated by the Council) on the .
- 53517 Tiree Ferry Terminal – Charger has come to the end of its lifespan and it is not economical to continue to try to maintain it, we are looking at the best route to replace it with new unit. Unfortunately, there are no other Council chargers at this site, but all public chargers can be found via the Charge Place Scotland website using the link above.
- 53518 Community Centre, Coll - Charger has come to the end of its lifespan and it is not economical to continue to try to maintain it, we are looking at the best route to replace it with new unit. Unfortunately, there are no other Council chargers at this site, but all public chargers can be found via the Charge Place Scotland website using the link above.
- 51510 Tweeddale Street, Oban - unit is now at end of its lifecycle and will not be repaired as we investigate replacement options. There is another charger at this location
- 51143 Fionnphort, Mull - CCS cable fault, we are waiting on a date for the engineer to attend, There is not another charger at this location, but all other EVCs can be found via .
- 52304 Bank Car Park, Bowmore - Socket B not working, we are waiting for a date the engineer will attend, there is an alternative EVC at this location
- 62931 Rothesay Pier - DC is failing to charge, engineer will attend 24/06/25, there is an alternative EVC at this location
Glengorm Household Amenity Site
Work starts at Glengorm household amenity site, Mull, on 23 June, as part of upgrades funded by Scottish Government’s Recycling Improvement Fund. Please expect some delays over the next three weeks. These could last up to two hours, but we will do all we can to keep them to a minimum and appreciate your patience during this time. Please follow any instructions given by site staff. Online Planning System
We are currently having issues displaying documents on our online Planning System (Public Access).
Recycling - Tighnabruaich, Kames, Millhouse 19/6/25
Unfortunately we were unable to complete our route today 19/6/25 at the following locations:
- Tighnabruaich
- Kames
- Millhouse
Please take your bins in and present them on the next scheduled collection - Thursday 3rd July. We will also collect any excess recycling you have.

Disruption to Islay and Jura bins
The recycling lorry has suffered a breakdown and will be returning to the mainland for repair. In the meantime, the smaller vehicle will be carrying out the service of small 240ltr bins until further notice. Once the large general waste lorry has completed its runs, it will be servicing the larger commercial bins.

Temporary closure - Bowmore disabled public toilet
Due to vandalism causing safety issues, the disabled public toilet in Bowmore, Islay has had to be closed until repairs are carried out.
We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause.
Kilennan bridge, Islay
U024 Kilennan Bridge, Islay. on the U024 Avenvogie Road is closed to traffic following severe scour of the structure's abutments and piers during a weather event in December 2024.
Repair works, due to be carried out in January and February, were unfortunately delayed due to Storm Eowyn. They are now expected to be carried out in May 2025 and completed by July 2025.
Access
- No vehicles are permitted to cross the bridge until repairs are complete and the bridge is re-opened.
- Local access is maintained along the U024 up to around 10m either side of the bridge.
- Diversions are via B8016/A846/C012/U024 and vice versa.

Repairs are expected to take a number of weeks and the bridge will remain fully closed until repairs are complete.
